General Terms
- As the artist, I retain creative rights to redistribute commissions for example/portfolio use on my social media and personal website.
- The client has permission to repost their commissioned work with credit to me. If no credit is given, it will be requested that credit be given or artwork be taken down. Clients cannot claim to have produced the work themselves or remove my signature from the image.
- Clients may resize/crop the image for use in icons, banners or other decorative images in their social media/online platforms. Others outside the client may not do the same.
- Personal use commissions only. Commissioned work cannot be reproduced commercially or for profit of any kind. This includes merchandise, promotional/marketing posts or NFTs.
- If the client is interested in commercial/marketing work, new terms and conditions apply. See Commercial Commissions for more details.
Hexafusion Designs/ Fusion Designs/ Character Designs
- Character designs created by the artist for the client become the property of the client. After completion, the client is free to alter or recreate the design at their own discretion.
- Concept art/sketches of custom characters are the property of me, the artist. They are not to be recreated or used by either party without the other party’s approval.
- Multiple concepts from a single commission’s batch can be selected at a time. They are considered part of the same commission; though, extra selections will cost extra. Speak with me for more details.
- Concept art/sketch ownership may be purchased by the client. See Ownership Terms for more details.
Commercial Commissions
- Commissioned work to be used in commercial projects has two options:
- #1: The work produced is my property as the artist and the client has permission to utilize it in commercial formats.
- Prices will be marked up for one-time commercial commissions
- My signature may not be removed, altered or concealed in any way. It must be visible on all reproductions of the artwork
- #2: The work produced is the property of the client and I retain permission to use as an example in portfolio work
- Royalties or a percentage of profits will be paid to me as the artist in addition to the initial cost of design
- The client may alter or crop the design how they see fit
- #1: The work produced is my property as the artist and the client has permission to utilize it in commercial formats.
Ownership Terms
- Ownership of any sketch, concept or image can be purchased from the artist by the client only after the initial commission is completed. Purchased ownership gives the client the right to recreate or utilize any purchased materials as they see fit without need of the artist’s input. Clients may share purchased materials without needing to credit the artist directly.
- As the artist, I retain the right to use purchased materials as example images only. I cannot alter, edit or recreate purchased materials in any way unless commissioned to do so by the client.
- Purchasing price is a percentage of the initial commission price based on the amount of concept art desired:
- 30%, all palette options
- 45%, all rough sketches, notes and palette options
- 60%, a copy of the commission file containing all layers and folders
- Purchased materials will be delivered in high quality, 300 DPI, PNG format, fitting within the 1700X2000 px limit below. Clients may specify other formats if desired.
Process
- Commissions take place during the first 2-3 weeks of each month. Larger projects (IE: animations, scenes, illustrations series, etc etc) may take longer if need be.
- In progress images are JPG format only. Final images are 300 DPI, PNGs for illustrations and GIFs for animations. They will fit within a 1700X2000 px range. Clients may specify dimensions if they like, please include them in the commission descriptions.
- Clients are guaranteed one update per week at minimum. This includes progress images and update notes. Frequency may vary. Feedback is welcomed and encouraged.
- The updates are as follows:
- Rough sketches: loose sketches and concept work, minimal coloring or shading, multiple options to choose from
- Tight sketch: clear image of the final design, soft and thick linework, flat colors
- Linework/Flat Colors: clean, thin linework, final color palette, edits and details finished
- Shading: full render of image, final effects and flair included
- Clients may request additional updates within reason (IE: requesting an additional image update one day after the weekly update is unreasonable).
- Casual conversations are welcome, but keep in mind this is still a business transaction and should not become inappropriate for either party.
